Prologue - Marriage of Lies

I should have walked away. Maybe then my heart wouldn't hurt this much. Maybe then I wouldn't be standing here, watching my husband act like I meant nothing. The music echoed through the ballroom. People laughed, glasses clinked. Everyone looked happy. Everyone except me.

My eyes found him instantly..... Kim Taehyung. The man who married me. The man who never loved me. The man I was never supposed to fall for. For a moment, our eyes met.

Then he looked away. As if I was invisible. As if I wasn't his wife. Something inside me broke again. I laughed bitterly.

What was I expecting? This marriage was built on a contract. Not feelings, not love.

Yet... Why did it hurt so much? Why did my chest ache every time he ignored me? Why did I keep hoping he would look at me differently?

Suddenly, a warm hand touched my shoulder. I didn't need to turn around. I already knew who it was.... Yeonjun "You're thinking too much again." I forced a smile.

"I'm fine.". Then he said, "You should stop expecting from him anything."

I didn't say anything because he was right. I was trapped in a marriage that was never meant to be real.
